The NeighborWorks initiative is a powerful example of community collaboration, uniting local partners around a shared goal of strengthening neighborhoods through affordable housing. GLC Minerals proudly joined this effort as a sponsor of a new home build located in the northwest part of Green Bay—a region the company has called home since 1871.

Hands-On Learning: Education through Construction
A vital part of the NeighborWorks project is the invaluable experience of hands-on learning in construction for twenty students enrolled in Green Bay Area Public School District through the Bridges Construction & Renovation educational program.
Through the Bridges Construction & Renovation program, students learn how to build and remodel homes. By learning trade skills at a young age, students are equipped with the tools necessary to contribute positively to building the future of Green Bay. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared for an apprenticeship or additional educational opportunities in construction and engineering, and these students are prepared to start work in an in-demand career.
Innovative Home Design and Sustainability
The students’ efforts culminated in the creation of a new and modern bungalow home, showcasing current home design trends. Displaying a charming craftsman home design, the finished house boasts a cozy front porch, gabled rooflines, and welcoming curb appeal. Inside, the space shines with light-colored walls, new flooring, and recessed lighting, making it both modern and functional.
However, the project extends beyond aesthetics. Emphasizing green building practices and home sustainability initiatives was crucial. By focusing on energy-efficient homes and sustainable construction techniques, we are ensuring that these homes are not only appealing but also resilient and environmentally responsible.
